The eastern part of downtown Aspen is home to the Spring Building, one of the most eco-friendly buildings in the city’s commercial core.  Once a dismal and meager office space slated for demolition, developer Michael Rudin salvaged the property in the spring of 2010.  Rudin, only 27 at the time, took on the Spring Building Aspen as his first project separate from his family’s business in real estate development and leasing in New York City.  In addition to the reconstruction of the two commercial and retail spaces, Rudin envisioned crafting a 2,000-square-foot penthouse on a third level so he, too, could bask in the luxury Aspen offers.  After completion of the C-1 zoned properties, tenants eagerly lined up to rent out the chic office space offered on

Pitkin County real estate sales were the highest since the 2007 heyday, racking in a whopping $929.24M for the first half of 2015.  But don’t get too excited about this upward trend unless you live in the Aspen Core, West End or Red Mountain….the A+ locations where unique properties are setting records for price per square foot.  This trend is also in part to the “Superrich” according to a New York Times article.  The Superrich of the world have formed a migration pattern of global events and places, and Aspen is on the map!  Superrich want to be private, but at the same time they want a community of like-minded people, and Aspen offers just that.  Not to mention it’s a great place to park money in a hard asset like real estate.  Additionally, speculation
